On offer art pottery mug, extremely skillfully incised with a harlequin in exotic plumage. Artist signed to the bottom "Losson" -- classic midcentury, Belgium c. 1950s.
Gille de Binche is a popular Carnival character in Belgium -- he closely resembles the Italian harlequin. This figure dates back to the 16th. During the Carnival, Gilles de Binche throws oranges (see his right hand) held in a basket (see left hand). The ceramicist is Emile Losson.
