"Pauline" Brigitte Deval art doll signed and dated 1987 wax over porcelain, creche maker

Meet Pauline.  Wax over porcelain by Tuscan master creche maker Brigitte Deval, made in 1987 to the absolute highest standards.  This is absurdly well made.  She’s had a rough life and is missing her mohair wig, as well as the puppet that originally perched on her right hand.  The wax is lightly scratched in places, but truly this thing has presence.  22” from foot to head.  As found condition.  In tip-top condition this is a $1500 — $2500 object.  Perfect project:  recast her as something / someone else.  Amazingly expressive, naturalistic face and posture.  Please note the images toward the end which reproduce an article on Brigitte Deval and show a complete Pauline doll.
