American Impressionist oil on canvas painting of trees on a ridge, possibly New Hampshire, c. 1910
American Impressionist oil on canvas c. 1910, 22”T x 28”W, unframed. Given the collection this came from, likely New Hampshire. Presents beautifully hung without a frame, high quality replaced stretchers. Good solid, untouched condition throughout, with typical grime and minor losses.
I thought birch, my neighbor thinks poplar and the arborist I had over to work on one of our trees swears it’s aspen. Whatever the species, I’ve never had a painting more variable in color — each and every photo looks like it could be a completely different painting, based on color palette alone. Really lovely thing — it just jumps off the wall, and couldn’t look more like all is right in the world. Here’s to the first leaves of spring!
