Oil Painting Florida Tropical Cabana Arthur Turcotte
Oil Painting Florida Tropical Cabana Arthur Turcotte
On offer modernist Florida tropical oil on Masonite depicting cabana thatch umbrellas on a clear, cloudless beach, with spectral figures wandering in the distance. Clipped brushstrokes define subtle variation in tone -- the palette in this painting is strictly limited to gold, blue, and celadon green. Gauzy and beautiful -- reminiscent of the California work for David Hockney.
About the artist:
Arthur Turcotte (1929-2016)
Arthur Turcotte was an accomplished painter known for his scenes of Massachusetts, Nova Scotia and Florida (particularly in the Naples area). He began painting later in life, after retiring from the Massachusetts State Police where he was a forensic photographer.
He belonged to the Middleboro and Taunton Art Associations, the Bierstadt Society of New Bedford, and the Naples Art Association in Florida. He studied with local accomplished artists and attended many workshops from Connecticut to Nova Scotia. He has received numerous awards for his art work between the late 1970s and his death in 2016.
A large cache of Turcotte's work was recently acquired by Nick Haus -- expect to see several by this accomplished painter.

SHIPPING: On items over a certain amount, this shop is programmed for free shipping. This happens very rarely, but if the real cost of postage to you is wildly above the estimate I may have to charge a modest amount for delivery, which will only reflect the real cost with no markup. Thankfully, this is very seldom the case, and mostly occurs with overseas or West Coast sales. If you'd like me to check in advance, please let me know. Again, this is a rare situation.
