On offer oil painting on board depicting figural group working outside, possibly mending fishing nets. A Mediterranean scene, likely Greece. Intense light shimmers over surfaces of stone, textile, and skin.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Dorothy Whittington lived in Sussex and exhibited in London as a member of the prestigious Royal Institute of Painters, an association of artists composed only of those elected by all artist members. In loose Bloomsbury style, she painted landscapes, interior scenes and figurative works, often on roughly textured board. An assured hand and unerring use of color mark her works.
