On offer seascape oil on canvas board painting of Tor Bay, Nova Scotia, by Alan Bell. Bell is known for his regional paintings of eastern Canada, focusing on the Maritimes. This work perfectly conveys the clean splendor and breaking surf of Tor Bay. Signed and dated lower right 1976, further attribution on verso.
ARTIST: Alan Bell (1900-1991)
He was born in 1900 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the youngest of four boys to parents Frank & Jean Bell, and lived for many years at Hopewell Cape, Albert county, N.B., Canada. He studied art in Detroit, Mich, in 1920 at the Wicker school of fine art, and in 1928 at the Detroit school of lettering.
In 1968 he won first prize for a painting of a Schooner at the Maritime Artists Association exhibition in Fredericton.

CONDITION: Overall very good, minor grime that could easily be cleaned, nicely framed. Ready to hang.
